As the incoming President I would like to take the opportunity to introduce our club to the Communities of Udora and Leaskdale .
The club was formed in 1980 and currently has a membership of 27, I personally have been a member with Lions Club International for 8 years starting my journey as a Lion in a small community in Northern Ontario.
The most common questions, I am asked whenever I am at a community event is “What do Lions do?” and “Where does the money raised go?”. The answer to that is quite simple , 100% of all monies raised goes back into the community . For example, in 2019 Udora-Leaskdale Lions Club have been doing numerous fund raising activities in order to finance the building of a Pavilion in the Udora Park at a cost of approximately $45,000.
What do Lions do ? We empower service to meet our community needs , we save sight , we fight Diabetes , we feed the hungry , we support youth , we work with local schools, and we are there to help when disaster strikes . We believe when caring people join together ,roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing and a incredible feeling for everyone involved
When you are a lion you become part of a global network of volunteers working together to make a difference . There are currently 48,000 Lion clubs world-wide with a total membership of 1.4 million men and women . If you are interested in joining our club, you can contact our Membership Chairman Byron Taylor at 905-954-5286 .
